CCO - Certified Intensive Care Provider (CICP)
The Cleveland Clinic EMS Academy in conjunction with the Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS), has developed the CICP Program to provide Paramedics, Nurses and Respiratory Therapists with an education program that would provide the foundation of knowledge and skills required in the development of critical thinking for patient care at a level of this acuity.
The CICP Program utilizes three learning components:

Classroom Lecture/Lab
Clinical Observation (optional
CICP Pre-Course
The CICP Pre-Course utilizes the “Guidelines for Air Medical Crew Education” as the student textbook. Published by the Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS), the textbook provides the student with a fundamental knowledge base of information covering various medical and trauma topics and flight related curricula including: gas laws, safety and survival, and operations related information.

Didactic / Laboratory
The 100-hour Classroom Lecture/ Laboratory component compliments the material covered in the CICP Pre-Course & S.I.N.A.’s AMRM course. Lectures are written individually or jointly by Physicians, Nurses, Paramedics, RRT’s and pilots who work in and out of the hospital care setting, thus, providing a comprehensive understanding of the various patient conditions, diagnostic aids, treatment modalities and safety considerations that you may encounter.
Clinical Observation
The Clinical Observation for CICP in Florida will be (optional) & (if available, based on locale) and will be offered to students in 4 hour blocks.
-Coronary Intensive Care Unit
-Medical/ Neuro Intensive Care Unit
-Cath Lab &/or Open Heart OR
- Surgical or Trauma ICU
-Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
-Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
-Critical Care Onsite prefers 1 year of experience
-ACLS + BCLS + State License and/or NREMT required
-PEPP or PALS or APLS required
-ITLS or PHTLS or ATLS (audit) or TNATC or CATN or ATN or TNCC required
-NRP can be made available if needed…
-This course prepares the student (s) for the FP-C Certification exam if they wish to take it.
-This course is approved for 83 hrs of OH DOH ConEd and satisfies all NREMT-P refresher requirements except Operations’ & ‘Geriatrics’.
This is a (12) day course including the final. **Class can be taught consecutive days or on shift schedule depending on need.
All (12) days MUST be attended to graduate.
CCO will provide training onsite at your location if the group meets minimum Size requirements (call for details)
CICP graduates will receive the following:
-CICP certification through Cleveland Clinic
-S.I.N.A. Air Medical Resource Management certificate
-DOT AAMS AMCC– 40 hr certificate
-1 pin, 1 patch
-83 hr CEU topic breakdown list from Cleveland Clinic
-DOT AAMS AMCC Textbook (electronic file)

CLEVELAND CLINIC CICP REFRESHER REQUIREMENTS AS OF 6/2009 ARE AS FOLLOWS:
Every 3 years requires 36 hours of critical care Con-Ed will suffice.
No standard EMT-P refresher topics will be accepted.
We will accept CCEMT-P & FP-C hours towards Con-Ed.
CCO is the Regional Site License Holder for CICP in Florida.
Site Locations: South Florida, Broward College; Central Florida, Rescue Training Inc; North Florida - Site Available in 2010.
Other locations will be listed as available through other host sites.
